There’s no place like home – especially when it comes to winning: World champion Johan Kristoffersson (S), at the wheel of the Volkswagen Polo R Supercar, dominated his own personal home event and the home round for the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team in the FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX) to claim his fifth win of the season. In front of 51,500 passionate spectators in Höljes, Kristoffersson picked up maximum points for the third time in a row – in only the sixth round of the WRX season. Kristoffersson’s second home win in a row also represented his 14th victory in the world championship and saw the Swede extend his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to 40 points. A maximum 30 points are up for grabs at each event.
PSRX Volkswagen Sweden also continues to lead the Team competition, with a 45-point lead over Audi – and that despite Petter Solberg (N) suffering a bitter disappointment in the second Volkswagen Polo R Supercar. He was leading his semi-final comfortably when he was forced to retire with a technical issue. Prior to this, he had finished second behind his PSRX team-mate Kristoffersson in qualifying. Solberg had won the third qualifying heat, with Kristoffersson taking victory in heats one, two and four.
The FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX) heads overseas in the second half of the season: Trois-Rivières (Canada) hosts round seven on the first weekend in August.

“Every win is special, but I had to work really hard for this one. Höljes is an extremely demanding track for driver, car and team. I felt happier and happier with every race, and my Polo R was just perfect in the semi-final. In the final, I had a top-class start and was able to pull away lap after lap – because I had the ideal car today. Winning here – in front of all those Swedish fans – is definitely a highlight.”
